About Cataraqui

Mission Statement

Cataraqui Golf and Country Club exists to provide Members with a private, high quality golf, curling and social facility, in a Country Club atmosphere, within the City of Kingston, dedicated to the development of golf, curling and social activities.

Golf at Cataraqui

The golf course was designed by noted Canadian Architect Stanley Thompson and has retained the classic golf course design and features that Stanley Thompson is renowned for. The golf course blends perfectly in its natural surroundings and is always a pleasure to play. The course features classic Thompson bunkers with their sweeping capes and flashes of sand, towering white pines, rolling fairways and small subtly breaking greens that will challenge your shot making skills.

The golf course has hosted many outstanding professional and amateur events. Events have included the Ontario Open, Ontario Ladies Amateur, Canadian PGA Senior Championships and annually plays host to the Women's Eastern Provinces Championship and the Men's 36 Hole Whig Standard Championship.

The list of champions at past events at Cataraqui Golf and Country Club includes:

  • Marlene Stewart Streit, World Golf Hall of Fame Member
  • Moe Norman, Royal Canadian Golf Association Hall of Fame Member
  • Jerry Anderson
  • Graham Cooke
  • Warren Sye
  • Mary Anne LaPointe

Cataraqui Golf and Country Club is consistently rated in the top 50 courses in Ontario and the Top 100 courses in Canada. The 2004 National Rankings ranked Cataraqui Golf and Country Club as the 69th best course in Canada.

Curling at Cataraqui

In 1961 curling began at Cataraqui. The six sheet curling facility opened to rave reviews and continues to provide one of the finest curling facilities in Canada to its membership. The top provincial curling events have a long history at Cataraqui including the Scott Provincial Women's Championships, The Men's Provincial Championships and the Ontario Curling Tour Championships. Teams from Cataraqui Golf and Country Club have represented the province of Ontario at both The Brier and the Canadian Mixed Championships.

The overall curling experience, with a recently remodelled curling lounge, provides a wonderful way to finish your curling experience. The curling lounge features a beautiful Archival Display and a warm fireplace. Cataraqui offers a full range of curling programs designed for all skill levels.

The curling conditions at Cataraqui Golf and Country Club are excellent and continue to improve. Investments in our facility continue to showcase Cataraqui as one of the top clubs in Canada. In the summer of 2005 a new cement floor for the rink was completed.

Curling is a social sport - on and off the ice. It offers a great opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones. It's the perfect winter ice-breaker. Why not give it a shot!
